After a pleasant 4 hour trip from Oriental, we arrived in Morehead City NC yesterday. \u00a0We are docked at the Portside Marina<\/a>\u00a0where we had arranged to have some packages delivered.<\/p>\n

Just after we tied up, we met our neighbors Paul and Cathy living on a beautiful Southerly 57<\/a>. \u00a0 Paul and Cathy had arranged to borrow a car and were making a grocery run and offered to take us along. \u00a0 We jumped at the gracious offer and were able to get all our provisioning done in one fell swoop.<\/p>\n

Chris and Ed, our Jefferson Beach friends on Freedom<\/a> pulled in later in the afternoon and the 6 of us decided to go out for dinner.<\/p>\n

The weather has been quite cold, often wet, and we feel really feel like we are wearing out our welcome this far north. \u00a0Since the weather is forecasted to be quite good over the next few days, we have decided to head out to the Atlantic and make some tracks south. \u00a0We plan to roughly parallel the coast and sail for as many days as the weather holds. \u00a0 If we make the distance, we will come ashore at a Florida location.<\/p>\n

We will be out of phone and internet range while we are offshore, but we will be checking in to the Maritime Marine Net via our long range radio. \u00a0The Net will update our location for a tracking website each time we check in. \u00a0To see our last reported position you can search on our call sign KK4LYX at ShipTrak.org<\/a>. \u00a0 KK4LYX<\/a> is our amateur radio call sign and you enter the call sign in a search box on the upper left of the page. \u00a0Although we plan to check in each day, long range radio can be difficult so you should not be concerned it you do not see an update.<\/p>\n

We could be out until about Wednesday of next week if the weather stays fine. \u00a0Otherwise, we will duck in somewhere and let you all know where we are.<\/p>\n
