Today we started with a walk on the Lake Erie beach. We took the dinghy ashore from Echo and then a short walk to the beaches. Reminded me of Lake Michigan a little bit. Facing mostly west with perfect sand. Pretty rare for Erie though.
Just a very short hop from Presque Isle Bay to Erie City.
Once we got tied up at Wolverine Park Marina in Erie we did a few chores and I visited the Maritime Museum next door. I did learn one new thing that really surprised me. The U.S. fought the IRA in 1866 when the Irish tried to invade Canada. Really. There were battles around Buffalo.
After the museum we hopped on a bus and went to Walmart for provisions. The details I leave to your imagination.
I can just imagine them yelling ‘the Irish are coming, the Irish are coming!’ It just sounds so incredibly silly!
Oh, and about WalMart. I’m very sure you will NEVER show up on any of the ‘people of walmart’ videos. Thank God!
There was a story about avoiding a battle because someone took a general out and got him drunk. Seems fitting somehow.
Thanks for the vote of confidence on Walmart. I’d like to think we stood out like sore thumbs.
