Monday morning

This morning Sandy is almost due east from us by a few hundred miles. We started feeling the stronger winds about 9:00 last night but we are protected from their direct strength by the buildings to our north. The boat is rocking around a bit and there is a constant howling from the wind along with the ever present rain but, we both slept well. The next high tide is this morning about 9:30, it’s expected to be the highest yet – a foot or more higher than the last.

We went out for a walk yesterday but spend most of our time just relaxing.

We are on the road south so have not been able to see what you have been dealing with today. Looks like things should ease up for you soon. I just checked in on our yacht club page to see how things are progressing with clean up in the Abacos. Power is restored to the island and the resort is checking all the power stations for needed updates. All businesses are up and running again and all is cleaned up and spiffy again. Just an FYI, it was reported to us that the Exumas did not fare so well. You might want to find a way to check progress in that area of the islands if and when you/we get to cross over to the islands. Hugs to you both, hope that Sandy was only a hiccup in your travels.

I agree with Curt! It’s really windy here in Sterling Heights. Garbage day today so you can imagine all the cans rolling down the streets!!!

I was just thinking, I’ve been living the boat life vicariously thru you guys. As much as I love a good storm, I’ll skip the “wishin I was there” for a couple of days πŸ™‚

Mary and I have been watching closely, keeping our fingers crossed and praying you both will be safe. Looks like the left turn is starting, watchout for the backside winds! (like I have to tell you!)

Thanks Curt. You are right on the backside. We have most of our lines to the north east through north west. This afternoon the wind should clock through west to south west. Afternoon project is to move some lines.

Jeff – According to the TV Sandy has passed by so the worst of the actual storm in over for you two. You certainly looked relaxed in the picture. Maybe “riding out” a hurricane in a boat is the way to go – I just hide in my laundry room πŸ™‚
