As many of you know, we lost our youngest son Nathan in May of 2011. In honor of his memory many friends and loved ones made donations to a fund that we had planned to establish in his name.
Although it has taken us quite awhile to get our arms around an idea, we are happy to announce that Nate’s Follow Your Dream Fund is ready to make awards.
Many activities had positive impact on Nate and helped make him the young man he was becoming. One of the most profound was his participation in Drum Corps. These groups take young men and women and though the lens of producing a 10 minute marching band performance, teach them volumes of life lessons. How to win, How to lose, How to work through pain, How to live with others, How to be a team player, How to be an individual. Nate left for the Corps a scared little kid and returned a confident young man. It was truly a life changing experience for him.
In honor of Nate, we think the highest tribute would be to help and encourage others to follow the Drum Corps path. Nate’s Follow Your Dream Fund will fund up to 12 awards of $1,000 each for Walled Lake Central students that are accepted and participate in a World Class Drum Corps. Participants need to register with Dave Rogers, the WLC music director, before the end of the year and successful participants will be recognized at the following Spring Concert.
It our hope to continue to make these awards in the future and we will gladly accept donations.

How wonderful that this dream is coming to fruition! I saw our local high school color guard last night and thought only of Nate. None of them could come near his talent! Good luck to you and Mary on this beautiful tribute to an amazing guy….our Nater Tater!!!
