More Spanish Virgins

~A short video clip of the surf at Playa Flamenco ~

After leaving Green Beach at Vieques we had a beautiful sail over to Culebra and arrived in Ensenada Honda Harbor late afternoon.   We dropped anchor just inside the reef and settled in for the night.  A big storm soon kicked up and caused us to do a full swing around the anchor.  We did fine but got a little close to the boat on a mooring nearby.  Once things settled down Jeff put a second anchor out as a “Bahamian Moor” to keep us swinging like the boats on moorings, this plan worked out quite well.

While at Culebra we met up with the Glasgow family on Bendecida.  They hosted a great dinner and included us.  It was nice to catch up with Bob, Molly, John and Catherine in addition to meeting some new cruisers.  It was a fun evening and as usual we learned many new and useful things.  Molly and Catherine also shared their recent snorkeling experience with a few friendly Remoras.  Catherine did a great job telling the story on Bendecida’s blog, fortunately we did not encounter any Remoras.

During the trip we enjoyed beautiful snorkeling in a few areas around Culebra and Culebrita.  It was among the nicest we have seen in some time and include a few pictures here.  Our pictures don’t really do it justice.  I have seen amazing underwater pictures including turtles on other cruisers facebook pages.  Here’s our best turtle efforts so far.  Playa Tortuga at Culebrita is home to many turtles, they are just too quick for us to get a good picture.

You may not hear from us again until we return from Detroit at the end of the month.  Enjoy the photos!

Fabulous! Jeff, I’ve borrowed your hatchway slat keeper idea and will install tomorrow. FlyAweigh is currently in Northport Long Island and we are headed south. All the best, Al and Molly Hyde

The pictures are beyond beautiful! The scenery is probably 100 times better than the pictures can possibly convey, especially the snorkeling ones. I changed my email address on the blog but it still went to my old one. I’ll try again. Have fun in Detroit…so sad I will not be able to catch up with you guys. Next time!

Ditto Denise’s comments. The scenery looks amazing. I’ve saved lots of pics to help me thru the colder weather….they make great computer wallpaper! Hope to see you for a quick visit when you’re in town.
